Day 1

Today was day 1 of swimming lessons for my son. Let me just give you a brief summary of emotions my baby went through. He has been begging me not to put him in lessons because "he knows how to swim" per him... I on the other hand am not comfortable with the way he swims. He won't go any further than 3 feet and he looks like he's drowning when he's actually swimming. I am not comfortable with it and we have to do something about it.

D is the type of child that doesn't like surprises. He wants the truth, full details and explanations. I have been preping him for the past couple of weeks about what was going to happen today. He woke up nervous and anxious. He called me at work to pick him up because his head hurt. (Which is probably true but I know it was caused by nerves). When we arrived at the pool he threw up. I knew the worst had past. Once he does this his system goes back in place. I knew he would be fine. I had to explain again that they weren't going to put him in a position he was uncomfortable in. Well, he did because D actually knows more than what I thought and he can do more. The coach started him in 5 feet of water. Oh my, the look on my son's face, PRICELESS.

All in all he was comfortable with his instructor and is ok on going tomorrow. I even promised if he continued to put forth 100% effort I would let him buy something at Toys R Us. Let's see what happens the rest of the week.

Thanks for all the comments from my shopping spree. The skirt that everyone was raving about are actually bermuda shorts. I picked out the pattern because it reminded me of scrapbook paper. I tell ya, I even get for inspiration from clothes.

That's all for tonight. I'll be back with more swimming photos tomorrow. Goodnight.

hee, hee...I'm going through the same thing with my boys...I signed my 9 year old up yesterday, and he actually cried :( We start today. I'll let you know how it goes. I passed on my 5 year old...I have to get in the water with him...NO THANK YOU. I'm already upset that I have to roast out in the sun for an hour waiting for my oldest...I am so NOT wanting to actually get IN THE POOL! Yes, it would be cooler...but it involves actually putting on a bathing suit :(

Oh my! That photo of D' looking at you seems to say, "But Mom you told me that he wouldn't do this to me! How could you!?" LOL!!! Poor thing. I'm sure this too will pass and that by Friday he will be saying, "Mom, that was awesome! Let's go swimming this weekend!" I just love him! HUGS!!!

Bless his heart!

Bermuda shorts? I am too short to wear those! I look so stubby!

Ady, getting him to go through swimming lessons is the best thing you could do for him. I think that especially in S.FL where we are always around a pool or the beach, its important that everyone knows how to swim. Good for D'! He will thank you once he learns ; )

OMG, that is exactly why I liked the print on those shorts (I thought it was a skirt). It reminded me of patterned paper as well. LOL!
