El Gran Caiman

My hubby came home one Sunday afternoon super excited to share some wonderful news. I was taking a nap and he gently woke me up and says to me "honey I won the Gran Caiman" I jumped out of bed and said to him "Wow you won a trip to Gran Cayman Islands, when do we leave?" When I glanced up in still a sleep daze it seemed that I had sucked the joy right out of his face. I was immediately worried and asked him what was wrong. He felt bad about telling me that it wasn't a trip but rather an award that he was going to be presented. I started laughing hysterically, I totally blame him because he translated the award into English and that is the direct translation of the award Gran Caiman.

He is a member of the University of Florida Hispanic Alumni Association. Every year we attend an event called Guayabera Guateque where they honor an individual that has contributed to UF. This person is the "Gran Caiman" of the year... You see peoples where I'm going with this.

My wonderful, handsome, loving, friendly, hardworking, dedicated husband was bestowed with this honor. I am so proud of him. He really deserves this because these past couple of years he has dedicated his time (our time together) in fighting for causes he believes in. He's put himself out there and has walked the walk and has talked the talk. As an added surprise that evening, Congressman Mario Diaz Ballart presented Jorge with an American flag that was flown over the United States Capitol in his honor for all his hard work for UF and agriculture. He was super surprised about this... I could totally see in it his eyes when he was on stage. I was even teary eyed. I am so proud of him.

I love this man to no avail. He has taken such good care of me this past week. I have been sick in bed unable to cook, clean or anything else for that matter. He has taken care of it all. I have been able to just sleep and recover because I know that he can handle it all. I am one lucky woman to have such a wonderful husband.

Have a wonderful week and happy scrappin.
